OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Night Assistant is responsible for supporting the overnight service coordinator in maintaining the proper functioning of the shift that includes: supervision of shelter youth and for various data entry, collection, and reporting functions for Station 7 services. In addition, they provide crisis intervention, cleaning and other duties as assigned, as needed. Two postitions available. 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education:High School Graduate or equivalent or ability to obtain within six months.
  2. Certification(s):(list any relevant certification(s))
  3. Experience: Preference will be given to former or current client receiving services through New Roads or Station 7 ;youth programs, runaway and homeless youth, computer/data entry, preferred. Previous janitorial experience needed.
  4. Availability:1:00 am - 8:30 am, Two nights per week. This is a temporary position.

      (must be 18 and over to work nights)

  1. Driver's License: 
  2. Attention to detail and good time management skills
  3. Commitment to empowering others to solve their own problems.
  4. Assisting youth to develop skills needed for independence.
  5. Act as a positive role-model and encourage the positive development of youth.
  6. Capacity to maintain a helping role and intervene appropriately to meet youth's goals
  7. Ability to set appropriate relationship limits
  8. A graduate from a Looking Glass program, preferred.
  9. Ability to work successfully with referral sources and other agencies as needed.
  10. Physical requirement: Ability to walk up and down stairs of a 2-story building.
  11. Ability to work effectively as a member of an integrated team.
  12. Ability to relate effectively with youth, parents, community, and referral sources.
  13. Ability to work in an unstructured, sometimes stressful environment, and maintain a positive mental attitude.
  14. Good communication skills.
  15. Cultural sensitivity and experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  16. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  17. Professional appearance appropriate to the position.
  18. Commitment to Looking Glass Mission and Values.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Completes housekeeping duties as assigned.
  2. Provide safety for youth in shelter overnight.
  3. Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  4. Completes data entry, maintenance for services.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.
