The College and Career Readiness Specialist is responsible for assisting with career development, occupational skills training, work readiness, and academic growth. Provides coordination of support services, and ongoing case management services to at-risk youth and young adults, 14-24 years of age, from low-income backgrounds with barriers to success.  This position assists with program planning and development, and program marketing activities. 


  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in a social services or business-related field preferred.
  2. Certification(s): list any relevant certification(s) on your application
  3. Experience: Two years' experience working in job placement or employment services and at least one year of youth-related experience. Sales or marketing experience helpful.
  4. Availability: Monday - Friday, (8 am 5 pm), Must be willing to work irregular hours when necessary. 
  5. Driver's License: Valid in Oregon, acceptable record, and insurability under Agency's auto insurance.
  6. Transportation: Must have own vehicle.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  8. Ability to work effectively as a member of an integrated team.
  9. Ability to relate effectively with youth, parents, community, private sector businesses, and clients.
  10. Ability to work in a stressful, unstructured environment, and maintain a positive mental attitude.

  1. Conducts on-going needs assessments to create individual Service Plans to establish short- and long-term career goals. 
  2. Assist clients to reach goals through occupational training and educational opportunities.
  3. Coordinates with Riverfront staff to schedule guest speakers and industry tours.
  4. Assists clients with financial aid and scholarship applications, college registration, and placement testing.
  5. Conducts interviews with youth to assess appropriate vocational training direction, additional assessments, and work-related activities including job shadowing, mentoring, work experience, volunteer opportunities, and informational interviews. 
  6. Identifies and coordinates unsubsidized and subsidized employment opportunities for clients by working directly with area employers in developing ongoing employment service relationships.
  7. Assists clients with career exploration, creating resumes, job applications mock interviews, and obtaining necessary certifications.
  8. Identifies and coordinates job shadow placements for health occupation students.
  9. Acts as a liaison for subsidized work experience placements by supporting on-site supervisors, conducting youth evaluations, addressing performance issues, and completing required paperwork including time cards.
  10. Maintains accurate client records as required including electronic case management files.
  11. Provides ongoing case management services to clients including coordination with other providers and funding sources. 
  12. Assists with specific youth recruitment activities by promoting program services to school, community agencies, and local youth organizations with emphasis on targeted populations. 
  13. Assists with promotion of program concepts and services to the general public, community agencies, and businesses.
  14. Completes a significant amount of paperwork and meets required deadlines.
  15. Completes other duties as assigned.
